We are lucky enough to live close enough to Gnarly Barley to cycle there on our bikes. It's our go-to for a quick bite on balmy evenings, when it's not too hot to take a leisurely slow ride there.
Having said that, if you were on Orange Avenue whizzing by it in your car you would blink and miss it. From the roadside it doesn't look like a place worth stopping, but if you do drive by it you are missing out.
A favorite amongst the locals, Gnarly Barley is also a stop-off for those on their way home for work at the end of a long work day.
It's a no-frills place with an extensive beer list, and serves light bites; salads, subs, sandwiches and tacos.
Food is great, beer list is fantastic, although I tend to stick to wine, which they don't have a large variety of, but hey that's fine with me.
We always tend to sit outside on the wooden benches and watch the world go by, and were pleasantly surprised when we turned up there last week to find out they had Oktoberfest going on, and had a great meal.
Well worth a stop off if you are out and about that way, or grab a quick bite before heading off to the airport.
